Christmas Services on TV and Radio 2016


If you - or a friend - can't physically get to Mass, please know that you are with is in prayer across the Christmas season. 

Some televised services from RTE1 include: 

  • Carols from Áras an Uachtaráin (RTE Christmas Eve, 6.15pm) President Michael D & Mrs Sabina Higgins welcome into their home a star-studded and eclectic mixture of guests, to celebrate Christmas, including presenter Mary Kennedy, Imelda May, Iarla Ó Lianáird, John Sheahan, Mick Flannery, The Voice UK runner-up Lucy O'Byrne and Dutch special guest star Gert van der Vijver, aka The Sand Magician. They are joined by children from Rutland Street National School, Dublin and Carlow's Aspiro Choir, plus The RTÉ Concert Orchestra, under the baton of Gavin Maloney.
  • Christmas Eve Midnight Mass comes from the beautiful Redemptorist church of St Joseph, in Dundalk, Co. Louth while Christmas Day sees 10am Mass from the same church and a special Service for Christmas with the staff and pupils of Methodist College, Belfast
  • Urbi et Orbi, the Pope's annual Christmas blessing (11-1130, RTE1), and a Christmas Message from the Archbishops of Armagh.(RTE1 12:20, Christmas Day)
